Day 11: Lourenza to Mondonedo
Last night our room in Lourenza was so cold (10C), I wore my socks and sweater to bed. Brrrr… Our laundry that was hung by the window was just as wet this morning as it was last night and rivulets were streaming down the inside of the windows. We left Lourenza looking like walking clotheslines; thank heavens for safety pins! 😂
It had been raining and we were prepared to don our ponchos at any moment. The rain held off, though, and the only drops came from overhanging trees – more eucalyptus, chestnut, pine, etc. Galicia is beautiful and very, very green!

It was another easy, beautiful stage, on trails that wound through rural countryside and little hamlets. Roosters were crowing, cows and goats were contentedly munching but would pause, curious about the pilgrims passing by.

We easily made it to the city of Mondoñedo with Its beautiful cathedral in the old town.

The Albergue del Montero is totally different from last night’s accommodation – warm and inviting with spacious areas for relaxing. The beds have sheets and cozy duvets, and the kitchen is so fully stocked I cooked dinner for the first time since leaving home. Bliss!

Sounds like the wet beginning did not effect the rest of the day. Delightful albergue
No, we really enjoyed the day. The threat of rain didn’t spoil it at all.
